Since 2007, Evan has been the founding editor of Boneshaker: A Bicycling Almanac, which Esquire selected as one of "50 Things No Man Should Be Without."
His novel, A Simple Machine, Like the Lever (Propeller Books), was named one of the Top Ten Best Books of 2011 by Willamette Week.
In 2013, Evan and his wife Judith Edwards bought a house on the east side of Mount Tabor in Portland, Oregon, where they've established a large vegetable garden. On weekends, they're cleaning up some woodland in the Coastal Range near Pacific City. Together they run Hive of Industry.
Evan has received fellowships for his work from the Oregon Arts Commission as well as Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts. He's currently at work on a collection of short stories, as well as The Best of Boneshaker Bicycling Almanac.
